The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

4.0

3.5-4 // I won't go too in depth about really any of the Percy Jackson books most due to my very basic and similar thoughts that have already been depicted in far more comprehensive reviews. What I will say is that this book was steadily entertaining through and through. It did not fail to provide the sense of adventure given to us in the first book. With that said, this "steadiness" also made it so that there were no major twists or crazy plot developments which led to even more excitement. The level of excitement in this book was generally plateaued. I do think that its ending, however, gave us a glimpse of the potential the following books in the series have to present us with more of this excitement and anticipation. The introduction of this new character keeps the story from getting repetitive and bland.

Overall, this book managed to be a sufficient sequel to its compelling predecessor and I personally am still interested in continuing on with the series.
