The first half covers the first book and the second half covers the next two books. As a result the whole feels slightly unbalanced in its pacing. Other than that this is a fantastic fantasy story. I often felt it was a bit derivative, but im pretty sure that's only because so many of its ideas and concepts have since been used in other works that they've become ever present. The characters are deeply sympathetic, and the stories care about the characters. I really enjoyed how the main conflicts and struggles are all innately human and individual, even if the fantasy worldbuilding means they can have wider impacts. Also really enjoyed the audio drama: the actors were great and the music was lovely.
