This was such a well-written dystopian novel. It had a purpose while also telling a story and I loved the homage to the Hunger Games as well. It showed tribute to it while not completely ripping off the idea.
I love that this book makes you think. You can see the parallels that were made to our current world and how they could become that dystopian world of the novel which is something that all good dystopian books need to do.
I loved the world that Reid built here. It was so creepy and disturbing, especially the animal mutations. And the constant rains and flooding made the setting seem even more dreary and terrible.
I also loved both of our POV characters. I felt like they had great backgrounds for their characterization and I felt empathetic for both of their situations.
I also liked the romance. It seemed genuine and organic for their situation. I liked watching it develop despite what they were being forced to do in the games.
Overall this was truly a great book and I would recommend it to everyone so they can take a look around at the world that we're living in.
