What a lovely testament to the power of women and nature in the face of adversity and a deep look into grief, heredity, and the historical imbalance of power between wealth and poverty, men and women. It was a captivating read and left me empowered and also gutted at the cruelty of the world and the violence women have faced for time immemorial. Kate’s timeline left me the most tense and angry but Violet’s and Altha’s timelines were engrossing in their own ways. I wish there were more about the mothers of Alva and Violet and the women between but three main characters was enough. Graham was an absolute treasure of a brother to Violet.
