The way I read this in a day. A whole chokehold lemme tell ya. I saw a TikTok that mentioned an ex-boyfriend’s dad and a sex club and I had to read it.
I’m a bit jealous of Charlie I’ve gotta be honest because where is my supportive boss/boyfriend who also owns a sex club and is willing to experiment with me?
So basically we follow Charlie after her break up with her boyfriend. She ends up meeting with her ex’s father and there’s a *situation* that is a toe-dip into the world of BDSM for Charlie. Charlie ends up being offered a job by Emerson and their relationship blossoms from there.
Throughout the book we see Charlie learn about the BDSM community and while there are some cringe moments, I overall really enjoyed the BDSM aspects. I thought the author did a really good job at introducing it, talking about consent, and describing what these types of relationships are like. I honestly didn’t think that the BDSM scenarios in the book were too much or dark. For the most part, the scenes are pretty tame (in my opinion) so I think most people will find it enjoyable and not be turned off by it. The title of the book is praise so there is a bit of praise kink in it but honestly, it’s not shoved down your throat to where you get sick of it.
While the two characters obviously grow closer throughout the book, I didn’t really see much depth to their relationship besides caring about their families. Like do y’all have any similar interests besides smexy time? I mean I did still rate this 5 stars because I had a fun time but that is one of my little criticisms about the book.
Something I really liked was the flow of the book. I read this so quickly and I feel like it was because it read so quickly. There are several little time jumps but we’re only shown scenes where there is tension or drama happening so it keeps the story moving along.
This book has lots of tropes that I enjoy including age gap, ex’s parent, workplace romance, taboo romance, millionaire, and forbidden romance
There was also a bit of LGBTQ representation in the book, I don’t want to spoil anything as this is talked about later in the book but just know it’s there.
I really enjoyed this book and I’m really looking forward to seeing how this world grows with the side characters.
