I have fallen in love with Pip Williams and her writing. Just so beautiful and inspiring and emotional and moving.
This was a beautiful accompaniment to the dictionary of lost words. It was lovely to fill in some of the gaps.Particularly as you see the Dictionary of Women’s Words be put together and see another side of Gareth and Tilda . I loved TDOLW so much it was a joy to be back in that world even if it meant reading about war which I always find heartbreaking.
I felt this book was a little more raw and exposed the real tragedy of war in a way that was only touched on in TDOLW. I am sad that Peggy and Bastiaan were apart in the end. It was probably the right move for the story but I wanted them to share their lives together forever
There was so much beautiful character growth in this book. It made me appreciate with a privilege it is to be a woman in this century (though we still have a ways to go), I appreciate that I am free to get an education and that it is a privilege to be studying, even when it doesn’t feel that way.
Will be reading more Pip Williams when I next get the chance!
