As someone who didn’t grow up during Elvis’ rise to fame, it was interesting to see how the times have changed. There are so many social normals that no longer apply, and I’m inclined to think it’s for the best.

I think the most startling thing to read about was the manipulation and power dynamic Elvis had over Priscilla — not only because he was the one who was famous, but also because he was 10 years her senior.

It was an overall good read and interesting to get Priscilla’s perspective of Elvis’ duality rather than those that like to go to the extremes and either boast about his fame or put him down for his constant drug use.

Ultimately, I enjoyed reading this because I was glad to see Priscilla going through her trauma and realizing that both her and Elvis’ had their problems, but they sadly chose to avoid it at the time. Whether or not it was because they couldn’t due to their dynamic — to admit their faults at the time, or because it just wasn’t commonplace to communicate properly and talk things out back then. Despite everything, though, Priscilla still loves him, and that’s a beautiful thing.
