Beartown by Fredrik Backman

5.0

WOW. Just wow. I am blown away by this book. I adored Beartown and I'm not even a hockey fan. This book kept me on my toes and swept me away with its family dynamics, town drama, secrets and even its poetic justice. Usually when I'm reading a book with a bunch of characters I write them down and use it as a bookmark but for this one I loved them all. I even loved how much I hated some of them.

Beartown is a hockey town. It lives and breathes on hockey. When the town is forced to face something terrible, they have to choose between good and evil, what's right and what's wrong. Bachman lets the reader feel real raw pain through one family, struggle through another and what a reputation means to one more.

One of my friends described this book perfectly when she said "it's favorite book material". Bachman develops each character in a way where you know them and have grown up with them or worked with them and as they develop you are more and more attached...or in some cases detached.

If you haven't already read and fallen in love with Bachmans writing Beartown, go buy this book. It truly is fantastic.
