The Becoming of Noah Shaw
by Michelle Hodkin
Long story short: what a disappointment.
When I first found out about this saga coming out I was beyond excited: I loved the Mara Dyer saga and really liked Noah, so it was a given for me that I was going to enjoy this one just as much.
And then I finally started reading it. At first, when I felt that I wasn't finding it interesting I kept pushing myself because this happens with a lot of books: you need to get through the beginning and then things start getting interesting. Sadly, this wasn't the case. I reached the page 100 and felt like nothing had happened. I thought "maybe at 150", so I pushed myself. Then I got to page 200 and still felt the same. I also felt that if, in my opinion, nothing had happened by then, nothing was going to happen at all. It was a matter of just getting to the end and maybe being surprised, quitting (which I despise and rarely do) or just finishing the book for the sake of it. It ended up being option #3, which makes me very sad.
I'll admit that I felt like things happened from around page 300 till the end of the book, but for me they didn't feel enough to continue with this saga. I don't feel curious enough to find out why that person was there at the end of the book or why that thing keeps happening to them.
I would go into the plot to actually explain well why I thought nothing much happened (which might be true and the rest of the saga might be action-packed) but I would have to go through the book again and I really want to move on to a different one.
So this is me parting ways with this saga - for now. I might give the next book a chance in the future, once I'm not so annoyed at the world for making me not enjoy this book and, hopefully, if or when I do read the next, I'll fall right in love with it.
