Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights by Salman Rushdie

4.0

My first Rushdie novel and I can definitely say it won't be my last. Slow at times, but looking back from the end it was those slow parts that ended up putting the later portion of the novel in perspective. And wow only 286 pages but it felt like 500, and in the best way possible. Every part of the novel (even parts I thought were extraneous) were packed with some kind of message or parable or goofy quip. I highly recommend it. Even at it's strangest and most fantasy-y moments it did what good fantasy is supposed to do and made me think about the human condition.
