lakmus 's review for:
Runaway Horses
by Yukio Mishima
"Crime and punishment", if Raskolnikov was a right-wing Japanese patriot youth.
Can't say I "like" like all the Mishima I've read so far, but it is somehow compelling and I am at the end of yet another book, looking up the next one in the quartet.
The writing is somewhat odd, I am not sure if that's the author or the translation - a mixture of poetic imagery, and a bit dry, awkward turns of phrase.
The inserted novella reminds me of the joke "и пулемёт снова застрочил", in the degree of revolutionary zeal the characters display.
