🇬🇧 Set in London, Philomena “Phil” McCarthy is a cop, aspiring detective, who finds herself in the middle of a robbery/murder/home invasion.
To add drama, Phil’s father and uncles are the McCarthy brothers: the mob boss family, which leads to some interesting “conflicts of interest”. 😝
This definitely hit the spot as a top tier police procedural with the right amount of suspense and twists to keep me turning the pages until the final reveals.
I’ll note that having not realized there was a “first” book in the series, I didn’t feel lost or that I had missed anything starting right here.
🎧 Katy Sobey on audio was easy listening including British and other European accents (Bulgarian, Irish), however I enjoyed the print edition just as much.
TW: Sexual Assault, Fire
