Although the story and characters are totally familiar because of the Robert Altman movie version and the endless TV show - which outlasted the Korean War itself - the book is not dated and is still pleasantly amusing. Don't be put off because your brain is MASH drenched. Give it a try. It's a pleasant diversion. The anti-war message is there alongside the appreciation for the troops who served.
