I barely finished reading this book. I muscled through it because everyone talks about how beautiful and sad the ending is. The prose itself is beautiful, Madeline Miller is obviously talented. I just don't think her characters were engaging or interesting. Patroclus as a narrator/character was only sometimes interesting. Achilles who had been so humanized by Patroclus during the rest of the book felt hardly redeeming or enjoyable by the end. This book could have been good, but the slow start, and even slower ending ruined it for me.
