I Married A Naga
by Regine Abel
"She felt the connection between us, [and] I would fan that flame until it became an all-consuming, raging inferno."
That cover? *Chef's kiss*

I had a lot of fun with this story, romance, and couple! We have our human, Serena, who is a skilled hunter chosen to participate in a government competition on a previously closed planet. Along with her competitors Serena is tasked with controlling the population of a vicious predator that has overrun the surrounding area.
But this culling is only at the grace of the resident aliens, The Ordosians, a Naga-like species that view themselves at the protectors of the planet. One said protector is Szaro, a lead hunter amongst his people and a formidable warrior himself.
There is only one rule in this hunt-Stay inside the designated zone or your life is forfeit. This wouldn't have been a problem for Serena if during her mission she didn't find two of the deadly beasts she was following zero in on a mother Ordosian and her child. Without a second thought Serena crosses the boundary and saves the two fleeing souls.
However due to this she is taken by the warriors to their village for failing to adhere to the strict rules, Now she has two options- accept and unfair death sentence or become an Ordosian herself....by marrying one!

Feeling like she is being punished for a good deed, Serena is at first outraged- that is until she is informed that her potential husband is in fact Szaro. After talking to him earlier in the hunt and knowing he volunteered for this position she is feeling a little bit better about the outcome. Mostly because she knows that it is only temporary. Spend 6 months on an amazing planet with never before seen animals & fauna- plus room with a surprisingly attractive Naga? That doesn't seem to difficult right?
But what seemed like an easy 'punishment' at first becomes more and more difficult for the human hunter as it looks like the only thing she really has to worry about protecting on this plant is her heart.
