Kali Fajardo-Anstine has written a thoughtful short story collection in Sabrina & Corina. In these brief tales, she highlights life Colorado, primarily the relationships between women. In the stories, we see how gentrification has affected areas of Denver as people are pushed/priced out of their homes. The trauma of observing or experiencing domestic violence is a thread across multiple stories. Girls are abandoned by their fathers. There is an overarching sadness across all the stories, which was moving, but difficult to read. They are well-written and I look forward to the author's upcoming novel.
