I’ve read this Baker Street Mystery twice, and I enjoyed it the second round as much as this first. Having a female POV, moreover one who knows her abilities and mind, was a brilliant aspect of this book. Maddy is unapologetic in her beliefs and what she seeks to do with her life. The gang of friends- the Baker Street Irregulars- that are introduced create a cozy environment, as well as the small town feel! The shenanigans that Maddy’s pup- Baby- gets into are the cherry on top for me.

I love the way the history and backstory were introduced in Chapter 1. It seemed such a clever way to provide a vast amount of information. Further, there were some cute aspects of inching towards breaking the fourth wall. My one complaint, and reason why I changed from rating from a 5 to a 4.75, was there seeming to be a presence of the female POV forgetting information that had been previously learned as related to work to solve the case. Albeit, it’s minor when compared to all the other beautiful aspects present. Nevertheless, it frustrated me a tad.
Would recommend for: cozy mystery readers, and those who like the combo of nurse mystery and baking

Tropes present:
-the red herring
-the dramatic reveal
-the love triangle
-set in a small town.
