Nightwing (2016-) #48 by Benjamin Percy
5.0
This is what a Nightwing comic is supposed to be like. Pacey, tense and full of extraordinary art. While it’s frustrating that the author is still dragging out the story - the race doesn’t need two issues to complete, does it? - the issue has me excited for more. This race feels like an homage to on screen Dick Grayson’s love for bikes and I love it more for that.
At 18 pages this installment feels excruciatingly short and abrupt, but the spare text and vivid imagery make it my favorite of the series so far. Why was Percy writing such trollop all this while? It was obviously not to his strengths and undid an incredible series. Here’s hoping this marks a long awaited return to form by the writer. Also, keep this artist. He’s great.
