Last Boat Out of Shanghai: The Epic Story of the Chinese Who Fled Mao's Revolution by Helen Zia

So glad I read this, even though it was intense. I didn’t know much about that time period in China and I had no idea just how much I didn’t know. Reading about Bing, Benny, Ho, Annuo, Doreen…it made everything so vivid and so personal. I’m so glad they were able to tell their stories.
