Duke of Sin
by Elizabeth Hoyt
3.5
Audiobook. Narrator good for female voices but not for male
Details to remember by: Val is a Duke with a truly tortured past. Bridget is his housekeeper, who is also the bastard daughter of a Lady. He particularly likes to blackmail people, and bridget got a job with him so she could find some letters he has because he's using them to blackmail her bio mom. This starts a sort of game between them where he appreciates her cunning and gets him Interested in her. Things progress. Somehow I was less bothered by the unequal power dynamics in this book than I have been with other Lord/housekeeper stories.
I don't know why exactly that they love one another. I think for Val it's that she knows his dark past (many of his childhood traumas as well as things he has done as an adult) but unless the tortured hero thing is Bridget's favorite, it is less clear on her end
Pretty detailed sex scenes
