I still think it’s an odd choice for the author to take the main character of the first book and turn her into a minor side villain. Creative, yes, but an odd choice. That said, the new “main character” had around a quarter of screen time at best, and a few other minor characters had around the same amount of screen time each.

That said, the ending was fairly anti-climactic. All the bad guys killed each other off, and the leftovers were defeated by: joining forces with one, doing the age old “kill the Queen and the army dies” cop out, and a vague defeat of the enemy army off screen with unexpected help when all seemed lost. Rather cliche on all three.

Then, everyone has a kumbaya moment at the end, and they all live happily ever after.

Also, the use of the slang by the narrator still annoys me.
