The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane
2.0

I recall reading The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane a long time ago in junior high school, but I did not recall how much I disliked it. I did not much care for the quirkiness. I stumbled on a few colloquial phrases (e.g., "dog-hanged parson") because they are not in common use today, but I stumbled even more on strange analogies and the author's style. As a result, I found the story hard to follow. It seems like the author was just trying too hard to impress me with adjectives. Could have just been my attention span, but I'm glad I finished. Moving on.
