The Selection Stories: The Queen & The Favorite by Kiera Cass
4.0
Since I have read the series long ago and therefore my opinion might be biased but I feel like I enjoyed this book more that the actual cycle...

I preferred the Queen much more that the Favorite though it actually made me dislike the queen a bit because I could see how little self worth she experienced towards herself and how her infantile behavior has lead to the abuse that Maxon had to experience because she never confronted her husband and allowed him to do whatever he wanted. While I did not become sympathetic towards the king, it was nice to be able to understand what led him to become who he became.
The favorite did not offer to me what I wanted: a history of how they felt in love, what we got kind of felt short. Though it was nice to see how much they cared for each other.
