Against the Tide by Cheryl Phipps

Keira Davis is determined to jumpstart her career as a wedding planner after losing her business in New York City through no fault of her own...other than trusting someone she shouldn’t have...who also happened to be her boyfriend.

Starting anew in Sunrise Beach, Keira meets Aiden Williams, the captain of the Majestic, a beautiful ship used as a venue for weddings along the stunning coast town, as she is now employed by a wedding planning firm in Sunrise Beach.

We learn quite a bit about Keira...not so much about Aiden. In this sense, the story seems a little imbalanced. While we are given hints as to his background (serving in the military, family issues (avoiding spoilers)), we never get the depth we do with Keira’s character. Because of that, it’s a little hazard to get a read on why Aiden reacts to different circumstances the way he does whereas Keira’s reasons behind her actions are more understandable.

While this is a romantic story, some parts flow smoothly while others seemed rushed or glossed over. Enjoyed the concept, however!

I voluntarily read an exclusive copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.
