arkaron 's review for:
The Sign of Four
by Arthur Conan Doyle
Pretty alright I guess. Better than the first in some regards, worse in others. Still not what I hoped a Sherlock Holmes story would be.
I liked that it felt less chopped in half than A Study in Scarlet and I unexpectedly enjoyed the pulpier, more adventurous parts of the story.
I found the whole backstory / motivation part behind the crime somewhat complex and convoluted although I'm not sure if thats a bad thing. Same goes for the introduction of a love interest, which I didn't expect this early in the series.
All in all pretty enjoyable. I'm really looking forward to the short stories coming up.
