I Remember You
by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir
dark
mysterious
medium-paced
This book was the winner of the Icelandic Crime Fiction Award - and it was well deserved. I have really found a love for crime fiction/mystery/thriller books in translation from other countries around the world. This was the PERFECT winter spooky read. Set in Iceland, the chapters alternate between two story lines and every chapter ended in a cliffhanger. One storyline has a psychologist helping a detective review a suspicious suicide that seems to tie to other deaths from several years ago. The other storyline has three people on an abandoned island in the middle of an Iceland winter while they try to renovate an old home - but keep getting distracted by a strange boy that may or may not be a ghost. And somehow… these things are all combined. If you want a good ghost story that will make you want to read with the lights on, grab this book!
