Johannes Cabal the Necromancer
by Jonathan L. Howard
YES YES YES ALL THE YES. This book was everything I expected and a good deal more besides. Here are some reasons why you should read it.
✓ Dark humour to rival Dexter's
✓ Fantastically cynical protagonist
✓ Demons are nowhere near as demon-y as one would expect, which is hilarious.
✓ Hell has some pretty unexpected torments in store too. Hint: it involves paperwork.
✓ Sibling rivalry! Between a necromancer and a vampire!
✓ A satanic carnival. Literally. How could a book about that not be awesome?
✓ Morals are a grey area. A very, very grey area.
✓ And yet at the end, there is a glimmer of hope. I shall say no more.
Now go read it.
