Letter from Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King Jr.

5.0

It breaks my heart to read MLK's words from 60 years ago and see that so much unfairness and inequality remains.

This edition contains the Letter from Birmingham Jail, which discusses non-violence and tension at length, highlights the role of the group vs. the individual, and describes people who argue I agree with your ideas and / or your goals, but I can't support the means you're using to achieve them: they are more worried about order than about justice. In the UK, we just had a perfect example of that regarding the toppling of the statue of slaver Colston.

The second piece of this edition is a sermon, The Three Dimensions of a Complete Life. As a sermon, it's considerably more religious in content and style, but it's very, very helpful to see how religion shaped MLK's life and action.
