Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal by G. Willow Wilson

4.0

Since reading this I have been trying to talk all my student into reading it. It is fabulous. The main character is a first generation Pakistan Muslim American who loves comics and geek culture. She struggles with identity issues like many immigrants. Her parents are overly strict and treat her differently than her brother. She wants to participate in the white teenage American mainstream culture. She gains super powers and learns stuff, though her acceptance of who she is was a bit quick. Can't wait to read the next one.
