I love Amy Gumm. She is one of the most awesome characters I've seen in a long time. She's smart and strong, but still manages to be compassionate. Despite the fantastic setting of Oz, Amy's a very real character -- she's got flaws and weaknesses, but ultimately learns to harness them as her strengths.
As for the plot, it's the right mix of action and personal interactions. I definitely would have been a little confused in one part if I hadn't read the prequels, but that's about the only flaw this book has. Its wonderful.
