Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier
3.0

2021 Review - So I reread this as a buddy read as I had previously really enjoyed it. I did not get the same experience as I did before. I really didn't like it that much this time round. I mean the Landlord is an arse anyways but there was so much countryside and not a lot going on, it was really meh for me. Some rereads just don't have the same read I guess.

2018 review - Well I was recommended this book by one of my best friends. I definitely did judge a book by its cover and wasn't sure about it.
Finally I have picked it up and WOW I just loved this book. First few pages I read I was like "Meh" but then something changed and I was hooked through this whole book. It always kept me guessing..especially when Jem made an appearance. I think Jem might be the type of rouge that I would go for to so I really don't blame Mary.
There were some parts where there was quiet a lot of description, to be honest I don't normally mind that but I think I was in such a rush and a hurry to find out what was going on with Jamaica Inn and Jem I couldn't read this book quick enough.
Now I don't want to give too much away but I don't like the way things ended with the vicar. I wasn't sure what to make of him throughout the book, I kind of liked him but was wary of his characteristics, but I didn't really understand why he had to leave and how anyone would have given way to suspect him in the circumstances, I think I would have liked an explanation on that.

Then after the episode with the vicar I was a little deflated as it wasn't panning out how I hoped and defiantly couldn't tell how the story was going to end. HOWEVER it has the best ending and I am literally grinning ear to ear and everything seems right with the world.
I am so pleased I have read this and encourage everyone to give this a read. Please let me know what you thought of this book...so good... definitely one of my new favourites.
