This has to be the most mind-bending, unfulfilling books I've read.
And that, I think, is exactly what Philip K. Dick meant to do here.
“The past is latent, is submerged, but still there, capable of rising to the surface once the later imprinting unfortunately--and against ordinary experience--vanished. The man contains--not the boy--but earlier men, he thought. History began a long time ago.”
My best friend recommended this to me, as it's one of his favorite books. I can't explain my opinion too well I feel like, as I'm not well-read in the genre at all. But! I liked it a lot, it just took around half way to really get the plot going. And it felt to me like the characters weren't really fleshed out.
The ending was also very very vague, which was probably on purpose, but it just made me feel like I read something that was a bit incomplete.
Please give it a try though, if you like weird, sci-fi books with fun worldbuilding!
