So Much Closer by Susane Colasanti

3.0

This book was alright. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it because the plot is about a senior in high school who is in love with a boy who doesn't know she exists. She's about to tell him she's in love with him and he drops the bomb that he's moving to New York City. Conveniently, her parents are divorced and that's where her dad lives, so she moves out there to be with him. Come. On.

HOWEVER, it was about more than that. It was also a self-discovery novel, which was a redeeming quality. Yes, Brooke moves out there to be with Scott, but then realizes there's more to life and there are other people who notice her for who she is and she doesn't have to pine over them and wonder if they know she's even alive. I guess for comparison's sake, it would be kind of like Pretty in Pink-not necessarily the whole rich/poor thing, but two different social circles and the best guy friend who is a steady rock and you can totally tell he really loves her. Except the book had a better ending than the movie.

It's alright, Susane Colasanti has better books out there, but for a nice, quick read, it wasn't too bad. Average.
