I really liked the plot and the characters. Poppy was a badass female MC which I love. I was really invested in her love interest. If you are someone who enjoys spice, this does get spicy. However, the majority of the book is a slow burn.

My low star rating? The writing is pretty bad. At times, there felt like way too many words for not saying much. Other times it felt repetitive. We would find something out and then a page later the MC is going over every detail in her thoughts. It’s like yeah we know this already why are we hearing it all again. Then, I also felt there were times that the characters say something that felt like it broke their character. I wish I would have made notes on these moments for a specific example, but I didn’t have the time.

There were quite a few really great scenes that kept me going through the writing. I will most likely continue the series, because as I said I enjoyed the plot and the characters.
