Alexis Hall creates a world in this historical romance that is full of pining and rooting for Viola and Gracewood. When we first meet Gracewood, it's almost impossible to believe that he could heal from the severe trauma that he experienced during the war. Although Viola experienced the same trauma, the war was an opportunity for her to live as her real self.
When Gracewood first realizes who Viola is, there tension was so wonderfully written that the reader is on edge waiting to see how it will play out.
