This is my first book by Helen Hoang, and I have to say, I was really impressed! The Heart Principle is a deeply moving and honest story about love, personal growth, and an autistic woman navigating the world. The FMC felt so real, and I appreciated how her voice came across as genuine and authentic. Watching her navigate her struggles and growth was inspiring.
What really stood out to me, was how the book handled the decline and death of a parent. It was done with such care and sensitivity, and it felt like something the author truly understood. It was clear that Helen Hoang had personal experience with both autism and the complexities of caring for a sick and dying parent, which gave the narrative a depth and authenticity that I really appreciated.
Then there’s the MMC, who is just so incredibly understanding. Honestly, I found myself wondering if men like him actually exist! He’s supportive in a way that goes beyond romance—he helps the FMC with her personal journey, and it’s really touching to see.
I also really loved was the way the book explored the FMC’s journey in understanding her own sexuality. It was handled with such respect and honesty, and it felt empowering without being overly dramatic. It was just done beautifully. Again, you heard the true authenticity of the authors voice, so brave!
Overall, I’m so glad I picked this book up. It’s a wonderful blend of romance, personal growth, and important representation. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a thoughtful and heartfelt story.
