Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo
5.0

My first experience of this book was in my Year 7 english lessons which were not fun and I didn’t enjoy reading it at all. However, since having revisited the story and having more knowledge about the themes in the book, I appreciate it more and have realised how much of a good text it is.

The book is full of amazing description and you really end up getting attached to the main characters in it. Morpurgo does a great job of making the reader feel what the characters are feeling. Despite the sad ending you are still rooting for the remaining characters so end the book with mixed feelings, a sense of closure but at the same time still wanting to know what happens to the characters next.

A great read, despite being an emotional one!
