This is my honest and voluntary review.
This is a slow burn paranormal romance/urban fantasy and it is addictive. Flynn is a 25 year old virgin. Sebastián is an almost 500 year old vampire. The grumpy/sunshine vibes in this book give me life. I am 100% here for them! This book is so good. It’s tender and aching, full of brooding and self-reflection. (Sebastián’s backstory is somewhat disturbing, but not for anticipated reasons). There’s also moments of mirth and mischief throughout this book.
I love a good procedural or mystery, so of course I love that Killigrew Street Hotel is full of paranormal/supernatural creatures working as a taskforce to eliminate supernatural threats. I love that you get both London and the Irish coast as settings in this book. I love the suspense in this story. I love the team at Killigrew Street. They may work together, but it’s obvious they’re a found family. I’m super excited to read Rory’s story (up next in the series) and can’t wait to hear about more adventures from these delightful characters. (Supernatural detectives for the win)!
Sebastián and Flynn are opposites in several ways. Yet the connection between them is unmistakable. I appreciate the hurt/comfort vibes between them. Flynn’s sunshine and light push back against the darkness that shrouds Sebastián. It’s really sweet watching their bond form and solidify, despite Sebastián’s hesitation and resistance. Both Sebastián and Flynn help one another face their fears and find ways to heal from traumatic experiences from their respective pasts. By finding one another, Flynn and Sebastián help each other come into a true sense of self.
This book draws you in from the first sentence. It weaves a magical lure around you, compelling you to both savor it and consume it as quickly as possible. Rose writes beautifully crafted prose. The chemistry and connection between Flynn and Sebastián is palpable, but so is the care shown between each member of Killigrew Street. This story is captivating and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. Now enjoy the depth, complexity, and passion within this novel that will leave a lasting memory!
