Stover brings to life version of the story that even the most tepid Star Wars fan could see buried in the awkwardness of the film.
The plot is more detailed and tense. The characters and their motivations have more depth. The themes are more resonant and impactful.
Aside from some pacing issues near the beginning, brief use of onomatopoeia that undercuts the tone, some silly nouns (transparisteel—or as you might know it, glass), and a lack of clear explanation as to why exactly Palpitine is not a suspect—it’s great and well-worth a read.
