Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud

informative inspiring fast-paced

5.0

This book came highly recommended and I can see why; it's enjoyable and feels like fast reading, yet it's amazing how much depth the author packs in. The book explores what makes comics unique from other art forms and why that matters. It gives examples of how different comic traditions have approached representing time, space, feelings, etc. It provides context on the technological/cultural influences on past generations of comics.

And it inspires the reader to become a part of the future of comics. Really interesting read, I recommend it to anyone interested in art theory or comics.
