I read this, in english, for my book club and am not impressed. Two murders take place in the small town of Scarborough and through the entire book you are lead to believe are connected. Unfortunately, you never find out for sure (although I am pretty certain the first was a red herring), as the first murder is never solved.
There is also the matter of "the other child". Now I don't know about you but if I am talking to someone about shared events that occured in the past, I would not be writing them down in story form, especially if I didn't want anyone else to read them.
I have to admit that I was so bored I skipped big chunks and only read the part about "the other child" which did not end well. I also read the last chapter to see whodunit and can't begin to say how disappointed it was. I really hope it was only a bad translation.
