On my 30th birthday I took myself to a bookstore with the not-so-simple quest of picking a book for myself I have never seen before. This was my pick and what a fitting pick it was.
I already knew I tend to love Asian and Asian-American writers so I guessed I’d ennoy it a lot. All the stories are abouz women and womanhood and they served as opportunities to contemplate on the past or about the future in this very round milestone of my life.
Short story writers can feel repetitive sometimes if they get hooked on a recipe that works, but Gina Chung twisted the PoVs and life periods to serve a wife arrangement. Loved it a lot.
