That was fun! Writing was nice, characters were good. It was a nice change of pace for me - faster pace, more reasonably-scaled villains, the main conflict isn’t between the love interests, still fantasy but without the magic/gods/witches etc that I’ve been reading a lot of lately. The cartography thing was a fun theme. Kinda leaves me curious for what’s in the next book
since there wasn’t a clear cliffhanger at the end. I’m really hoping Elias and Mercedes stay mostly on good terms bc I hate the misunderstanding->falling out->making amends at the very end trope.
