Fahrenheit-182: A Memoir
by Mark Hoppus
emotional
funny
hopeful
reflective
fast-paced
anyone who knows anything about me knows how massive a role blink-182 has played in my life. reliving all of these moments, the highs and lows, really took me back to where i was when all of it happened. it was interesting to hear it from the other side—and honestly, one of my only complaints is that i wanted more. i think there are parts where the pacing glides through too quickly and i wanted those details.
my favorite part of this was hearing about the songwriting and production. i love hearing about craft. i also love hearing about tours. it was really emotional to read about mark’s mental health throughout, too. how it was affected by these changes, how that impacted everything else. it was very honest and un-glamorous.
the only place this book really lost points for me was the post 9/11 section. sure, it reflects the spirit of the moment or whatever but the weird american propaganda was not for me. groan.
all in all though, i flew through this book for a reason. a lot of it was stuff i already know but there were some things i didn’t, and it was worth it to see that side of things. if only this thing was doubled in length—hey, that’s what she said!
