A Requiem for Fallen Stars by Hazel S. Wilkes

4.0

Great slow burn fantasy romance with unique magic system, trials, found family and strong FMC.

Loved the academy setting and the different entrance exams. The magical system was interesting and I would love to learn more about it.

I liked Lyra as a FMC. Her life wasn’t an easy one, but she stayed strong. The banter between her and the MMC, Draven, was great and I loved the found family dynamic. The friendship between Lyra and Grey was great and I really liked how they were always there for each other.

I enjoyed the descriptive and detailed writing style, it made me feel like I was in the middle of the story with the characters. It took me a while to get into the story but when I did, I didn’t want to put this book down.

I wasn’t a huge fan of how this book ended but I’m interested to see what happens next.

“Those who live in the gray have much less to lose than those who build their foundations using black and white stones.”
“Now, now, gentlemen. Claws are for beasts, and we are civilized creatures, so I suggest you put them away.”
“Oh? An actual compliment from you. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
“Pretending to be whole does not mean you are, just as pretending the pain does not exist won’t make it go away.”

Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the gifted eARC! Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
