ericbuscemi 's review for:
The Good Thief
by Hannah Tinti
I listened to the audiobook version of this book, and the quality was top-notch, with the narrator doing great distinctive voices for each of the characters.
As for The Good Thief, let me just say this -- despite all the favorable comparisons to Dickens' works, I did not find this nearly on his level of mastery. Just because a story follows an orphan on an adventure where he meets a lot of interesting, gothic characters, doesn't make it a Dickensian novel, or at least, it doesn't make it a good Dickensian novel. Most of all, Dickens books and characters were memorable, whereas this novel was easily forgettable.
