🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧

👱‍♀️synopsis:
13 yr old Kyra has grown up in an isolated community without questioning the fact that her father has 3 wives and she has 20 brothers and sisters. That is, without questioning it much- if you don't count her visits to the Ironton County Mobile Library on Wheels to read forbidden books, or her secret meetings with Joshua, the boy she hopes to choose for herself instead of having a man chosen for her.
But when the Prophet decrees that Kyra must marry her 60 yr old uncle - who already has six wives - she must make a desperate choice in the face of violence and her own fears of losing her family forever.

👱‍♀️thoughts:
I've had this on my Goodreads TBR since 2009! I've been trying to clear some backlist off my virtual TBR and I'm having a great time doing so! This was a haunting read, so hard to stop listening. Further haunting, knowing these things have actually happened to young girls in real life. The narrator was an excellent choice, I think her reading of the book brought Kyra's character to life even more. I loved the involvement of a Bookmobile/Librarian in the story. If you are fascinated by cult stories, this is a YA book to pick up/listen to.
