House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

I thought this book was a home run. It starts out as a murder-mystery and develops into much, much more. There is a common rumor circulating about this book and that is that the world building is really dense for the first 200 pages or so. I personally did not find the world building unbearably dense, so I think this is probably subject to the reader and the types of books you're used to reading. If you've read other fantasy/sci-fi, this probably won't seem wildly complex to you. This is not to say that the world building is not good- it is! But I think this book scares some readers because of how dense it has been claimed to be, so just know that it may not be that way, depending on your reading preferences and experience.

All of that said, be prepared for this book to rip. Your. Heart. Out. I sobbed, I laughed, I loved. Just read it.
