I loved this book. Eelyn is a solid, strong character and I really enjoyed watching her grow to realize that the world doesn't always have to be the way it was. I do wish we had gotten a little more time spent in the Aska village, to compare to what we experienced in the Riki village, to see who Eelyn was before, but I think spending the whole story in the one village was important to Eelyn's development.
The writing was expressive and made the story easy to see in my mind as I read. I had kind of hoped that we would get more of Fiskes and Eelyns relationship after the battle, but I look forward to reading The Girl The Sea Gave Back at some point and getting another glimpse into this world.
