another victim of the "lost in translation" phenomenon. i'm sure in its native tongue this book was more solid, but i personally felt like it was a whole lot of nothing and really could have leaned into the terror of dystopian food insecurity. the relationship between the narrator in mauro was sweet, but i felt it was very surface.
